Ikea launches an ephemeral hotel on a motorway service area

In 2013, Ikea installed a temporary hotel, offering holidaymakers the chance to take a twenty-minute nap in one of Europe's largest rest areas. Built from prefabricated materials over 560 m², this temporary hotel is open 24 hours a day, offering travellers the chance to take a siesta and, above all, to test IKEA's new range of mattresses. The space also includes a play area for parents to relax in. The lullaby "njut njut" is almost missing.

At the same time, the brand is raising people's awareness of road safety, in particular hypovigilance and falling asleep, which is one of the leading causes of death at the wheel.
